Happy Monday, everyone!
What’s been happening in the Hermit World? My four-month (hermit) vacation included visiting Hong Kong twice and hopping on the ferry for a day in Macau. My trips were due to the fact that my boyfriend was working in HK for two months and it was the best opportunity for us to meet while we were geographically closer to each other.
I’ve been to Hong Kong in 2011 and my experience was not enough to convince me to come back. Let’s just say my friends and I found a lot of difference between our cultures. We went there as plain tourists with Ocean Park, wax museum, and Disney Land written on top of our lists.
So this time around, when my boyfriend invited me to visit him, I was just excited to the thought of spending time together even if it had to be in Hong Kong. I got on the plane for the weekend without any listed itinerary.
Let me give you a brief introduction of my boyfriend: He loves to Walk. Yes, Walk is a proper noun in our relationship. For the sake of this post, walking was the second mode of transportation during our trip next to the train (if that makes sense). I could write a blog dedicated to our Walking trips complete with routes, distances, maps, complaints, sweat meter, and blues around Asia but not today. 🙂
Spotted this stranger by himself while we were getting lost at the ferry terminal to Macau.
Chinese lanterns at a busy plaza in Macau. We were so busy Walking that I didn’t get the chance to know the name of the plaza.

I’m not a fan of casinos so I ignored them in this post apparently. Instead, I spent half the time with my head pointing upwards looking at the architecture around me. Portuguese influence is very evident in this city.
Neon lights at a restaurant where we had dinner in Kowloon
Almost tempted to buy these jerkies.
I wasn’t kidding when I said Walking is a proper noun!
We were hungry enough to try the hot pot…
It doesn’t look appetizing here but I assure you it’s good.
Eating breakfast in a strange land is one of my favourite parts of a trip.
We had fun. I did not expect to like the place during my second and third visits. As they say, there’s always a second chance. I apply this to places I travel to. Wish you have a great time too wherever your feet take you!
